The clock ticked louder until I fell asleep
It probably continued ticking after but my conscious mind did not hear it
It carried into my subconscious dreams, however
Making me run about like the silly hare in Alice in Wonderland
I’m late. I’m late for a very important date!
What is the date you ask?
Only the rabbit knows
I’m doomed never to show up
Simply for not knowing
It wasn’t in my calendar
It wasn’t in my plans
I wanted to be all the places I was expected
But when my brain shut down
That was it
The calendar was of no significance
Time was just an illusion
A construct to make humans feel better
Like they actually had control
Over the completely uncontrollable
The only way to beat time is to make more memories
Live the width of your life, not just the length
Make your days come alive
Make the moments matter
Lose track of your phone and time
Immersed in the things that actually matter
Being present where your feet are
Experience all the sensations
Savour all the moments
And create a life that makes a difference
