As the fireworks lit up the sky
My dog cowered and shook in the closet
Fear enveloping him and removing any sense of safety
Helpless all I could do was watch
I shared words of comfort
Although not sure if they were for him or me
My heart breaking for him
While longing to watch the magic sparkles in the sky
Everything has changed
Given up and sacrificed for him
I just want him to be okay
More than anything
