As I stepped into the untouched white snow, I heard the familiar crunch and a shiver went up my spine
My dog looked eagerly up at me, as he stood next to me
I laughed, and he took that as his sign and took off
Being the first to touch the snow makes him feel alive and filled with joy
As I watched him jump and run through the freshly fallen snow, I laughed
Unsure when I lost all the joy filled in my life
But being present in this moment, it filled every corner
My dog has a way of reminding me what’s truly important in life
This last year shook up my priorities and tested my breaking point
But I’m determined to find joy in each day this fresh year
Connect back to the silly fun and laughter
Even if some days I need to look harder
Being present with this new snow with my dog is all I can ask for
Time slows down as I watch him filled with fun
At this moment, we are making memories that matter
At this moment, I too, am alive in the now much touched snow
The world disappears as we laugh together
I want to bottle this feeling and hold it close to my heart all year
