With your hopeful eyes, you bring me your ball
Knowing it will make me smile
Your tail wags as you nudge it to me
As I pick it up, you crouch low in anticipation

Getting to share my life with such a special being

I toss it in the air, and you catch it
We repeat this over, and over, and over

You teach me patience, and not to take myself so seriously
You remind me to take breaks and have fun
My furry friend and companion
You have taught me so much more in four years
Than I ever could have imagined

My heart filled with love
I laugh at your silliness
Knowing you’ve cheered me up, your tail wags
Giving me some affectionate kisses

We understand each other on a level few do
