“We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called opportunity and it’s first chapter is New Year’s Day.
– Edith Lovejoy Pierce
As I opened the book, I felt trepidatious
Doubt singed the edges of my creativity
This is what I’m prioritizing
This is what I want
A daily writing practice, I remember the benefit
My writing easily and quickly improves
My concentration and focus come back
The fuzziness and doubt in my head disappear
I deserve to live my writing dreams
I deserve to express my heart
With the blanket wrapped around my shoulders
I dare scratch the pen on the page once more
It wont be just another new years fad
This is my life, it’s in my blood, its tattooed on my wrist
I deserve to express my heart
Words building momentum, I gain courage
When I still my mind, the words flow
When I allow a force bigger than me to write
I know the words come out right
They help me heal, they help me settle
Dreaming, inspiring, creating, doing.
