Time runs fine away like grains of sand thru my hand
I cannot catch it and control it any better than the waves are able to on the beach
The words allude my pen and are the mistress of moments
They escape with each other down the boardwalk
Into the twilight of the moon reflecting and dancing with the waves
Teasing and taunting on the warm summer breeze
Daring to flirt with the lengthened minutes in the heat
Passionate on the heart and unnoticed in the sweating sensations under the sun
But time won’t be tied down to anyone and her promises are weak and allusive
So don’t try to catch her with your net
The gentle butterfly lands quietly when you least expect
